Questions parents ask

If yours is not here, call or send us a message.

Do we need a referral?

In North Carolina, you can start without a referral. Your plan may still ask for one. Call us with the plan card and we will check before you book.

Does my plan cover this, and do you take Medicaid?

We bill many kinds of plans, including most PPO plans and Medicaid. Your plan decides what it pays. We check your benefits and call you before the first visit.

What if we pay ourselves?

We give you a written estimate before the first visit, and you pay for each visit on the day. If your plan may reimburse you, we give you a detailed receipt to send in. Your plan decides whether it pays.

How long is a visit, and who treats my child?

The first visit is about an hour with a physical or occupational therapist. Later visits can be shorter. An assistant may guide the games and exercises, under your therapist's direction.

How many visits will we need?

It depends on what your therapist finds, what your child wants to be able to do and how your child responds. Your therapist talks it through with you and goes over the plan as you go.

What should my child wear and bring?

Clothes and shoes your child can move in. Bring the plan card, your photo ID and any notes from your pediatrician or school. A water bottle and a favorite toy help.

Can I stay in the room? Will it hurt?

A parent or guardian stays for the whole first visit. We work within what your child can tolerate. Some movements can feel odd or tiring. Tell us, and we change what we are doing.

Do you work with my child's school?

With your written permission, we can share a short summary with your child's teacher or school therapist and suggest changes that help in class.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. Mayela Leon, Mariluz Ibanez and Maximiliano Romero speak Spanish with families, and this site and our forms are in Spanish too. Ask for one of them when you call.

Do you take photos or video of my child?

Only with a parent or guardian's written yes, for one purpose at a time, such as practice at home or a note for the school. You can change your mind at any time, and we stop from that day.
